HOLE 1
Your welcome to Guyan is performed with a challenging par 5. Your drive determines how you’ll play the hole. Only the longest can consider finding the green in 2 and when you get there, be certain of your distance as the green is well known to spit balls back down the fairway at you.

Many stories get told of the toils of Number 2. Uphill all the way with dense forest playing intimidator on both sides of the fairway, this hole will test all your skills. Be certain of your distance to the two-tiered green, the false front will treat you unkind if you question it.

You’ll be rewarded with a middle-of-the-fairway short iron into this elevated green if your drive finds either side of the sloped fairway here. Spray one left or right and you’re staring down some two hundred year old oaks that tempt your second shot. Be sure to bring your driver with you to the green for your first effort on #4.

The smart shot is to find the top of the second swale to give yourself a decent look at this green. Those that try otherwise may find themselves challenged with some of Guyan’s tallest fiends on the left and the right. Two large traps guard this deeply undulated green. Below the hole is your friend here.

Birdie finds itself in the equation on this interesting par 4. A solid drive over the ridge will most likely find a way towards the middle for a second shot that screams for you to take advantage. Head right or left and you’ll find yourself hitting off a slope that you don’t want to face.

You’ll likely have an audience for your performance on this par 3. The patio overlooks those that play this one. This one plays to the distance on the card so be certain of yourself. Those that like to visit Captain Hook every now and again will find themselves starting down at a tough second.

Looks can be deceiving and this par 3 gives you something to think about. Straight away and long, this hole has a green that slopes from back to front. Many golfers have found their way off the front and with a wedge in their hand. You par this one and you’re well on your way to a good round.

When Mr. Strong designed this course in 1922 he wanted to give you temptation that allowed for great reward. Standing on the tee box of this long par 5, you’ll be anxious to take Mighty Casey’s famous swat and watch your ball rocket into the sky. Miss it and you’re playing a loooong hole. Your shot into the green is challenged by a deep gully to the right and the green is very long.

Bringing it in toward the Flesher House is a beautiful par 4. The drive should be placed in the middle and this allows for a mid-to-short iron to the two-tiered green. Say a prayer if the greenskeepers have placed the pin in the front. You’re best served to hit past the pin and pull the string on it. Best of luck.

HOLE 10
The drive on this par 4 is intimidating to say the least. You must hit it through a narrow chute to an undulating fairway with trouble on the right. The smart shot leaves you 150 to a deep and expansive green. Don’t tempt fate with the huge trap on the right...some need a ladder to see the green from it.

Running parallel with Interstate 64, this long par 5 tempts you with your longest game. The trees on the right seem to swallow many Titleists and provide you with a game of pinball you didn’t want. The green slopes from back to front and gives you a chance to practice your sand game with no less than 4 bunkers surrounding it.

Do yourself a favor as you make your way around Guyan and take a minute to take the beauty of this hole in. A solitary target surrounded by tall pines, oaks and maples, a creek and large bunkers give you the only option for success here. As with many holes at Guyan, your tee shot here determines your ability to score well. If you don’t connect, it is best to lay up and give the up and down the old college try. If you are so fortunate, the green is large and gives you great opportunity for the elusive birdie. Be sure to bring your driver on the green with you as you will need it before heading back to the carts.

Finding the fairway here gives you a great opportunity at a birdie. The creek that protects the left side of the green is a nemesis for many. Note that your second shot into the green is at a flag that is some 15’ tall. Going long on this green is Trouble with a capital T.

One of our signature holes, this par 3 was improved with an enlarged landing area to the back left of the green in 2016. The creek that protects the middle line and the left of the green is wide and nearly impossible to hit from. Your best bet is to hit the green and hope that the undulating green gives you a chance to bring home a birdie.

Par is a prize on this difficult par 4. A right-to-left tee shot is ideal and your second shot will most likely be longer than it truly looks. Trouble lurks left in bunkers and trees and trouble lurks right in deep rough. This expansive green is known to give fits so be certain to take dead aim.

As with most courses throughout the world, time has taken its toll on many holes and designs. Number 17 at Guyan remains untouched from its original design by Mr. Strong in 1922. This rewarding par 4 with the “bowl” green gives you one of the best opportunities for birdie that you’ll find.

A wide fairway gives you relief and ample reason to unload on one as you take on the home hole. The challenge here will be in your second shot. Coming into this green can be daunting with bunkers on the front left and right and deep trees on the left. The green slopes severely from back to front so the deft touch pays off here.
